The year 2021 marked several achievements for UNFPA Equatorial Guinea, as efforts were intensified to accelerate progress towards UNFPA’s transformative results and to ensure a sustainable and recovery from COVID-19, focusing on building an inclusive and effective path for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063 “Africa we want’. Interventions were implemented through project components carried out in collaboration with our strategic partners i.e. government, implementing partners, civil society, private sector, and young people. Key results were yield from the implementation of projects such as: “Reducing Maternal and Neonatal Mortality in Bioko Norte and Kie Ntem” with the support of Nobel Energy/Chevron ; “START FREE”, STAY FREE, AIDS FREE component OF THE FIGHT AGAINST
HIV/AIDS; and the “UBRAF” component (Uniform Budget, Results and Accountability Framework) to eradicate HIV/AIDS.

To advance Gender Equality and Women Empowerment, including in humanitarian, the CO supported 450 households and 1000 women and girls victims through the project: “Improving access to protection services so that the affected population recovers from the explosions in Bata”. The CO coordinated the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the International Day of Women’s Rights, the
celebration of the 16 days of Activism to end Gender Based Violence, on November 25, 2021, and the International Day of African Women, on July 31st. To foster population dynamics, the program has provided support to the government by strengthening the National Statistic Institute (INEGE) technical capacities with the training in demography and economics, all at the Master’s level.
