In order to technically review, adapt and validate the “Management Protocol for Pregnant Women and Newborns” to establish the technical criteria for the standardized management of pregnant women and newborns who are positive or suspected of COVID19, it was carried out a workshop at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MINSABS).
During June 10, 11, 12 and 15, several experts have analyzed the latest scientific evidence on the subject and discussed the best way to adapt it to the national context. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) provided technical support to MINSABS for the preparation of said document, within the framework of its Project for the Reduction of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality, financed by the company Noble Energy.
This workshop also served to inform how:
1. Provide guidance to health teams on the management of pregnant women, women in labor, postpartum and newborns in the context of COVID-19.
2. Ensure inclusion of pregnant and newborn protocols for prenatal care, delivery care, obstetric and newborn emergencies and their complications during Covid-19.
