Malabo, 6 December 2023. The National Director of SOS Children's Villages in Equatorial Guinea Mr Jose Galey Chica and Dr. Hind Jalal, Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), signed on 6 December in Malabo a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework of cooperation in the field of sexual and reproductive health and the prevention and elimination of gender-based violence. The MoU aims to strengthen the partnership between the two organizations and improve the quality and access to sexual and reproductive health services for all people, with special attention to women, girls, adolescents and young people.
The MoU includes three areas in which SOS and UNFPA will work together to carry out activities in 2024:1) the development, promotion and prevention activities in Sexual and Reproductive Health, including preventing HIV/AIDS and STIs transmission, 2) the prevention of violence against women, girls, adolescents and young people to achieve gender equality, and 3) the joint development of projects in favor of Youth, in Sexual and Reproductive Health, Gender based Violence and the prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse -PSEA.
