Malabo, November 10th, 2023. Dr. Paulina Dyombe, Representative of the Foundation of Religious for Health (FRS), and Dr. Hind Jalal, Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), signed on November 10th, 2023 a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a framework for cooperation in the field of sexual and reproductive health and the prevention of gender-based violence. This agreement seeks to strengthen the partnership between the two organizations and improve the quality of and access to health services for all people, with special attention to women, girls, adolescents and young people. The memorandum of understanding includes four areas of activity in which FRS and UNFPA will work together. These are 1) the generating evidence through studies and research in the areas of SRH-HIV, GBV/PSEA for the improvement of health data, 2) the advocacy for the implementation of policies, laws and plans on sexual and reproductive health and gender equality, the 3) Strengthening of the health system at institutional, human resources, planning and procurement levels and 4) the prevention of violence against women, girls, adolescents and young people to achieve gender equality.
Dr. Dyombe expressed her satisfaction for the signing of the agreement and highlighted the commitment of FRS to improve the quality of life and health of the most vulnerable people in the country. For her part, Dr. Jalal thanked FRS for their trust and support and reaffirmed UNFPA's mandate to contribute to sustainable development, human well-being and respect for sexual and reproductive rights.
