Extension of the delivery of Family Planning supplies to Bioko Sur in the midst of the COVID19 crisis

The Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Project, implemented by UNFPA - United Nations Population Fund, together with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MINSABS), carried out a delivery of Family Planning supplies in the districts of Luba and Riaba, belonging to the province of Bioko Sur, last Thursday, May 28.

Within the framework of the COVID19 Pandemic Response Plan, UNFPA and MINSABS have readjusted strategies, seeking to ensure the maintenance of essential health services and mitigate the effects of circulation limitations between districts, decreed to curb the spread of the new coronavirus in the Country.

Global UNFPA projections point to 47 million women losing access to contraceptive methods due to stockouts and other limitations, leading to more than 7 million unwanted pregnancies worldwide.

The Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Project in Bioko Norte and Kie Ntem, implemented by UNFPA - United Nations Population Fund, with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, is 100% financed by the company Noble Energy.
