UNFPA Equatorial Guinea Country Office is pleased to share with you the 2022 Strategic Highlights report that showcases key achievements and deliverables toward achieving the three transformative results in Equatorial Guinea– ending the unmet need for family planning, ending preventable maternal deaths, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices, and teen pregnancy in Equatorial Guinea.
UNFPA EG is implementing its 7th country program (2019-2023), which is effectively aligned with Equatorial Guinea's National Development Plan in its Agenda 2035, the African Union's Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2019-2023. During 2022, we are proud of the achievements made working with the government, implementing partners and the UN System to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Through concerted efforts with the government of Equatorial Guinea, civil society organizations, including youth organizations, and the private sector, we have achieved successes with more women having pregnancies by choice, and not by chance, more women giving birth under the care of skilled health personnel, and more young people accessing information that enables them to change behaviors in the face of the pandemics that have swept the world, to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and other STIs, to avoid early pregnancies, and to access sexual and reproductive services that enable them to make healthy and informed choices.
